BattMobility now also targets companies in Leuven

Leuven is a true car-sharing city. Over the past four years, the number of car shoppers increased by as much as 80%. From now on, you will see a BattMobility shared car driving around Leuven alongside shared cars from cambio, Cozywheels and Dégage. BattMobility is primarily active in the Ghent region and is now setting up shop in Leuven. BattMobility offers only fixed-place electric share cars. The first car can be found in the Grensstraat in Kessel-Lo. The offerings will continue to expand in the coming months.

Leuven has a total of more than 230 share cars. This involves both private and commercial car sharing. More than 5,400 families and businesses are already using a share car. In four years, the number of car shoppers has increased by as much as 80%. “Leuven is a true car-sharing city. More and more Leuveners are discovering the benefits of car sharing. But we know there is still a lot of potential in our city,” says alderman for mobility David Dessers. “By recognizing BattMobility as a car-sharing organization in our city, we are further increasing the car-sharing offer. In this way we hope to enthuse even more people to opt for shared mobility. Each provider has its own way of working and appeals to a certain target audience. We think the new offer is a nice addition to the already existing offer in Leuven.”

BattMobility is starting with one sharing car in Leuven, more specifically in the Grensstraat at the Hoppinpunt Korfbalclub in Kessel-Lo. Three more will be added in the near future.

About BattMobilityBattMobility is a Belgian player founded in 2017 and operates mainly in the Ghent region. “BattMobility is an atypical player among car-sharing companies,” explains BattMobility marketing manager David De Beukelaer. “BattMobility also offers – in addition to the classic shared use – a lease product with sharing option for entrepreneurs, companies, self-employed and individuals. Simply explained: when you don’t need your car, others (staff, neighbors…) can use it and your lease bill drops. We have customers who can thus drive a Polestar 2 or a Tesla for 300 euros a month.”

Now that tax breaks for hybrid vehicles have been removed, electric mobility is booming. Certainly also in the corporate segment. “For businesses and the self-employed, we have the solution,” De Beukelaer said. “BattMobility’s (leasing) solutions provide fewer cars in parking lots, reduced costs for businesses and a nice interaction between businesses and citizens.”

Info eveningOn Wednesday, Feb. 28 at 7:30 p.m., BattMobility, together with the city, is organizing an info evening on electric car sharing and the possibilities of BattMobility at the Drukkerij (Koning Albertlaan 50c, Kessel-Lo). Participation is free, but registration is recommended. Learn more at https://www.leuven.be/autodelen.

Pilot project“We are starting a one-year pilot project with BattMobility. Last year we started a similar pilot project with other providers. In the coming months we will see if the offer catches on and we will check the impact and use of the cars,” Alderman Dessers clarified. As part of the pilot project, Leuven’s shared cars will receive a parking card that allows users to park in the blue and pay zones without restriction.
